Sonic Art and Activism: Exploring the Ties Between Feminist Art and Popular Music

My best friend Stina’s always looking out for me- and she’s a women’s studies PhD student so she always knows about the best local feminist events before anyone else. Thus, when she forwarded me info about this event, Sonic Art and Activism:  Exploring the Ties Between Feminist Art and Popular Music, I wanted to instantly tell everyone I know about it. It’s taking place on Feb. 13th from 1-3PM at the gallery SOHO20.

Below is a snippet from the event’s description on The Feminist Art Project’s website:

This panel proposes to speak to the histories and connections between contemporary feminist art and popular music, and the utility of the joyful, critical, and insistently embodied approach to culture found in the resulting discourse.

The panelists are Damali Abrams, Kathleen Hanna, Lorraine O’Grady, and Shizu Saldamando.
