Looking for info on economics issues and either lack access to subscription databases or are just generally curious to see what’s freely available online? Research Papers in Economics (RePEc) is an excellent place to start, as it’s an online database of 1 million+ published and unpublished items related to economics. Holdings include 620,000 journal articles and 390,000 working papers!
It’s important to note that RePEc is not a full-text database- it provides links to some freely available full-text documents, but its focus is providing users with an item’s bibliographic information (i.e. citation).
The site is completely volunteer run, and individuals from 74 countries contribute the bibliographic information of their work in order to “create a public-access database that promotes scholarly communication in economics and related disciplines.” RePEc volunteers also maintain a blog, which is updated at least once a month.
